HOUSTON - Footprint App, Inc. launched their latest carbon footprint education and action software on Friday Nov. 13 during the Houston Climathon, hosted by Impact Hub Houston.

The tool allows students to compete and collaboratively reduce their environmental impact by tracking their sustainable habits. The software has launched in over 50 classrooms across the nation and is being utilized by several corporations to help them reach their sustainability goals and engage employees around the energy transition. Climathon attendees were granted early access and piloted the new organization competition mode to track their impact as a group.

Tucker Stillman, a student who tested the new carbon tracking tool with his classmates, stated that, “Footprint App brought alive the concepts we were learning in class. It gave me a hands-on, experiential learning opportunity”. Dakota Stormer, Footprint App, Inc. CEO and co-founder, said that, “with the state of Texas recently receiving an “F” in climate education from the National Science Foundation, we see Footprint as the perfect tool for K-12 and beyond to help Texas students engage with climate science in a fun, competitive way”.

“From pitching the idea and iterations at Impact Hub Houston’s Open Project Nights, to mentoring at Houston’s first Climathon in 2019, we are thrilled to see the new Climate Education Tool come to life!”,

said Michelle Avalos, Director of Operation at Impact Hub Houston.

Climathon Houston is part of a global hackathon for climate-related solutions. It aims to catalyze climate action in Houston, inviting people virtually this year to participate, connect and share ideas.
